VINMONOPOLET LISTING PROCESS AND SELECTION FOR TENDERS
All approved samples for the tenders are blind tasted by a tasting panel at Vinmonopolet. The selection of the best product is based on the following criteria’s; price, quality and the ability to deliver. It is very important to offer your best price possible at tender submission. The offer must be valid thru a minimum of 6 weeks after the given deadline and the price must be valid for 12 months. The launch is normally set to 5 months after the tender has been submitted to Vinmonopolet. If we win the tender, Podium Wines AS need to have the first order delivered in Oslo/Norway, 1, 5 months prior to the listing date given by Vinmonopolet. Vinmonopolet will take samples from first shipment and compare with tender sample, to check that the wine is the same as offered. If not the purchase will be rejected and goods returned on the producers cost.
SAMPLES FOR TENDERS TO NORWAY
The sampled wine must always be identical to the wine being shipped if we win the tender. Difference in quality will cause possible rejection of purchase by Vinmonopolet as well as a penalty fee set by the monopoly.
Please send 4 samples for each of the tenders that you would like to submit. The samples MUST be fully originally equipped, with label, bar codes etc, to Podium Wines AS. If tank samples are sent, vintage and alcohol % must be stated on the label manually as well as the name of wine, origin and producer name.
Lot number must be visible on the bottle. If tank sample, please indicate whereon the bottle the LOT no. will appear later.
The date and time for deadline of delivery of samples to Vinmonopolet is absolute. Offers will be rejected if deadline is not adhered to. The samples shall be sent directly to our office address: Podium wines as, Hegdehaugsveien 31, 0352 Oslo, Norway.
We recommend an express forwarder such as: FedEx, DHL, UPS or TNT, dependant on where they have best coverage and service in your area. Do not use normal postal service as the Norwegian post service is not trustable. All these companies have registered our company in their system, so there should be no delay in the delivery.
Please attache a pro forma invoice with the shipment for fast customs declaration; state amount of bottles, bottle size, alcohol % and value of the sample. Please set value to max. Euro/USD/AUD 1,00.
Excise no. is not needed for sending samples to Norway as we are not a member of the EU.
After a launch period of 6 months in the monopoly stores, Vinmonopolet will start measuring the sales vs. all other wines sold at Vinmonopolet with in the same given quality and price segment group. The sales of the product will only be measured from the fullassortment shops, which is today 59 shops. This is to make the competition equal for all. Vinmonopolet has stated a given quantity of products for each segment group and if the wine does not sell enough with in this given group, the wine will be disqualified after a 12 months period. We will be notified 2 months in advance and expelled after 14 months. If you get to keep the listing, your wine will be measured every 2 months after this.
For test salesat Vinmonopolet it is the same procedure, except that the test period is only for 6 month. If you pass the test you are granted a new period of 6 months immediately after, and then you will be measured on equal terms as the other listings.
Please do not hesitate to ask us if you have any further questions regarding this procedure or other issues regarding Vinmonopolet in Norway.
